Green Bean Media was formed by journalists and TV producers from Hong Kong now living overseas as a result of the crackdown on freedom of speech. It has become one of Hong Kong’s leading news and current affairs platforms with very high viewership within Hong Kong and around the world. Stephen Vines is the presenter of its Let’s Talk programme.

Until 2021 when it was forced to close Apple Daily was Hong Kong’s only mass circulation newspaper supporting the democracy movement and as such was the target of considerable government pressure culminating in the arrest of its senior management and police occupation of its premises.

The Pulse was a multi-award winning flagship English language current affairs show aired by the public broadcaster Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). It was terminated in July 2021.

Vines made weekly appearances on Morning Brew, broadcast on radio by RTHK, until April 2021 when it was decided that his irreverent approach to current affairs was no longer required.

He is the anchor for the weekly current affairs TV show, The Pulse, broadcast every Friday and gets stuck into a weekly conversation slot on Thursday’s Morning Brew radio show.
